Public holidays according to the ABU CLA

There are several recognized public holidays in the Netherlands. The ABU CLA for Temporary Workers defines the following generally recognized public holidays. As long as these days do not fall on Saturdays and/or Sundays:

  • New Year's Day - January 1
  • Easter Monday - a Monday, on a different date each year
  • King's Day - April 27
  • Liberation Day - May 5. Only recognized public holiday in anniversary years, once every 5 years. These are years ending in 0 or 5
  • Ascension Day - a Thursday, on a different date each year
  • Whit Monday - a Monday, on a different date each year
  • Both Christmas Days - December 25 and 26

What should I enter in my timesheet on a public holiday?

In Flexportal, you enter your timesheet. Is 1 of the days that week a public holiday? Then that day is colored in the timesheet.

If you didn't work on that day, you don't have to fill in any hours. If you would normally work that day, you are entitled to a holiday allowance. We'll make sure you get that paid properly.

Did you work? Then enter the hours you worked.
